Take the Triathlon Challenge

Parker Recreation’s Fitness and Wellness division challenges you to complete the equivalent of one of the world’s most grueling triathlons. Parker’s Triathlon Challenge gives participants two weeks to swim a total of 2.4 miles, cycle 112 miles, and run 26.2 miles. The Challenge period starts Feb. 26 and ends March 11. All participants will be recognized at an Award Ceremony and Luau on Sunday, March 18.

People interested in learning more about the Challenge, as well as registered participants, are encouraged to attend an orientation meeting at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 17 at the Recreation Center to receive training materials and mileage tracking sheets. Beginning Feb. 26 participants will log swim, bike and run distances during lap swim, spinning classes, and sessions on stationary bikes, treadmills or elliptical trainers. Or, participants are welcome to complete their miles off site on Parker’s great trail system.

This is Parker Recreation’s third annual Triathlon Challenge. Parker Recreation’s fitness staff wanted to create an intense personal challenge to help people break out of their winter workout ruts. Last year almost 100 area residents accepted the Challenge and pushed their bodies to finish within the allotted time. The program is meant as a personal test of stamina and resolve, so participants will not compete against one another. Participants who log all their mileage in one week or less will
receive special recognition at the luau.

To register for the Triathlon Challenge, call 303.841.4500 or stop by the Front Desk of the Recreation Center at 17301 E. Lincoln Ave. Registration fee is $30 for Douglas County residents, $34 for non-residents. An event T-shirt and the celebration luau are included in registration fee. For more information about the Challenge, call the Parker Recreation Center or email ParkerTriChallenge@comcast.net.
