Free outdoor wedding location in parker?

Can anyone Help this Parker Resident out? See her letter below.

A friend of mine mentioned that he had a wedding in Parker awhile ago, and it was a free location! He said it was 180 acres of open space and they used it for their wedding, but it didn't cost a thing. Can you give me more information on what this area might be and any more helpful information about having a "free" wedding there? Thanks!

Run for the Parker Town Council Council Candidate Orientation July 26

Are you interested in becoming involved in your community? A regular Town Council election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 7 to elect threeCouncil members to four-year terms. This election will be held in conjunction with the Douglas County Coordinated Election.

Those interested in running for office are invited to attend a pre-candidate meeting on Wednesday, July 26 at 6 p.m. at Parker Town Hall,20120 E. Mainstreet. At this meeting, candidates will be able to talk to current Councilmembers and staff regarding the position of
Councilmember and what it entails. Individuals will also be given a sample of the nomination petition and related instructions.

Beginning Tuesday, Aug. 8, individuals can pick up a nomination petition at Town Hall, 20120 E. Mainstreet. Potential candidates must obtain the required number of qualified signatures and file them with the Town Clerk on or before Tuesday, Aug. 28. After the signatures on the nomination petition are verified by the Town Clerk, the applicant's name will be
placed on the Nov. 7 ballot for the position of Councilmember.

The position of Councilmember is very rewarding, but it is also very time intensive. Current Councilmembers estimate that they spend 10 to 20 hours per week attending meetings, serving on committees and fulfilling their Council duties. In addition to weekly Council meetings, members also attend various committee meetings and community events. They are also
expected to attend an annual winter Council retreat each January.

To be eligible to run for office, candidates must be at least 18 years of age and be a registered elector of the Town. Additionally, candidates must be a current resident of the Town and must have resided in the Town for one year immediately preceding the election.

For more information on the 2006 Coordinated Election and instructions on how to run for the available offices, please visit our Web site at www.parkeronline.org/election. You may also contact the Town Clerk, Carol Baumgartner, at 303.841.0353.

Parker Youth Wanted to Paint Art Mural in Mainstreet Center Gym

The Town of Parker would like to invite students from local schools, art groups, clubs and other organizations, as well as individuals, to participate in the painting of a large art mural at the Mainstreet Center gym, located at 19650 E. Mainstreet. The theme of the project is “Youth
Art in Parker” and Parker youth from ages eight to 18 are encouraged to come and paint their vision of what they think the Town looks like. The mural will be created in panels and installed around the gym. "We're excited about the energy and vitality the mural project will bring to
the gym, which is heavily used by local kids," said Cindy Galasso, Mainstreet Center Coordinator.

If you would like to be a part of the mural project, but are unable to come to the Mainstreet Center, painting supplies can be dropped off at your organization and the art panels that your organization creates will be incorporated into the permanent display.

Four public painting sessions are planned: July 26 from 4 to 8 p.m., July 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Aug. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Aug. 9 from 4 to 8 p.m. A reception to unveil the artwork will be held in September.

Review Pirates of the Carribean - Dead Man's Chest

I was at the opening in Parker last night..the before part and waiting in line in costume with my 17 year old daughter and 20 of her friends... was a ton of fun... and seeing everyone else come in dressed up. The movie was awesome.. a little too long, and not as many funny original lines.. they mostly used references that were favorites in the first movie to play on in the 2nd. The effects of the Davy Jones crew were Gross and Amazing.. the usual amazing Disney animation. Great fight scenes and escape scenes and of course Johnny Depp's performance as Jack Sparrow was just as good as the original. I did think it was a little long.

Trail Rangers looking for volunteers in Parker Colorado

Trail Rangers looking for volunteers

The Town of Parker is looking for 20 to 25 volunteers to join a new Trail Ranger program. Trail Rangers will patrol the community’s 75 miles of multi-use trails and be extra eyes and ears for the Town to report trail maintenance issues, safety concerns and citizen feedback. Trail Ranger volunteers will be equipped with informational materials including trail system maps, local trail-related regulations and contact information for Town personnel. Cyclists, skaters, walkers and equestrians who utilize area trails on a regular basis are invited to attend an informational meeting on Wednesday, July 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Parker Mainstreet
Center, 19650 E. Mainstreet.

“The Trail Ranger program is a way to support your community, keep the local trail system safe and promote active lifestyle choices in Parker,” says Recreation Department Communications Coordinator Amy Tartaglia Johns, “Plus, you can volunteer and get your exercise at the same time!”

The ideal Trail Ranger volunteer will already be an active trail user, be comfortable distributing trail information to fellow trail users and be enthusiastic about helping the Town improve its extensive trail system. Volunteers will patrol the trail on their own time and report trail maintenance issues, safety concerns and public feedback to the Town’s Public Works, Recreation and Police staff. Trail Rangers will be trained in basic bicycle maintenance, carry a tool kit and bike pump, learn about equestrian issues unique to Parker’s trail, and be kept up to date
about trail expansions and improvements. Rangers will carry trail maps and
other trail information for distribution to the public.

At the July informational meeting interested volunteers will learn more about the new program and can sign up as Trail Rangers. The Trail Ranger program is open to participants 16 and older, although minors must have parental permission to participate. High school community service hours are available for youth participants.

To sign up for the July 19 meeting, or for more information about the program, please call Amy at 303.805.3267 or email ajohns@ci.parker.co.us.
