Free Womens Self Defense

Free women’s self defense class

The Parker Recreation Center is hosting a free women’s self defense clinic on Tuesday, Jan. 23 from 6 to 7 p.m.

The class will be taught by Porter Freeman, Director of EAS Body-for-LIFE Challenge. Porter has over 25 years of martial arts experience in several styles and holds a 3rd degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do. He is a licensed referee, instructor and examiner in Tae Kwon Do. Freeman also serves as a Reserve Deputy Sheriff in Colorado and teaches Nutrition and Officer Survival in the Jefferson County Law Enforcement Academy.

This free, one-hour course is geared for women of all ages. Freeman will discuss the importance of personal awareness and talk about several situations where women need to be cautious. The primary intent is to teach avoidance in situations where women typically become vulnerable. Freeman will lead the class in a warm up segment, a basic stance, punch and kick segment, and role playing. There will not be any contact. Women should wear comfortable clothes and athletic shoes.Parker Recreation and Porter Freeman are offering this class free of charge, but pre-registration is requested.
