In recent weeks there have been four businesses in Parker that have been the victims of window/door smash burglaries. In all cases, the window or glass door was smashed with a rock and cash was taken from the cash register and the back office. In one case the suspect(s) turned over a desk causing all of the computer equipment to fall to the floor. In another case computer equipment was pushed off the desk.
There have been several similar incidents in Franktown and Castle Rock within the last several months. These incidents are occurring mainly in the early morning hours of Saturday and Sunday, between 0030-0300 hrs.
Increased patrols will be conducted in areas identified as likely target areas by the Parker PD. However, individual businesses should review their security and make any improvements necessary to prevent these types of incidents.
If you have any information related to these incidents please contact the Patrol Division at 303.841.9800 at any time. If you see any suspicious persons or activities call 911.

Concerts in O'Brien Park Sunday's in August from 1-3 p.m.

Concerts in the Park series announces artists, invites community
7/20/2007
Parker’s annual Concerts in the Park series continues this year with free music and free ice cream every Sunday in August from 1 to 3 p.m. in O’Brien Park. This family-friendly concert series is organized through the Town of Parker Cultural Commission and features a different Colorado band each week. Concertgoers enjoy free ice cream during the shows courtesy of Parker Water and Sanitation. Pack a picnic to enjoy under O’Brien’s huge shade trees, and let Parker Water supply dessert!
The 2007 series kicks off Aug. 5 with the Denver Municipal Band’s 17-piece jazz ensemble. The Denver Municipal Band was founded in the late 1860s and is the oldest professional concert band in the United States. They have performed free summer outdoor concerts throughout the Denver Metro region for over a century.
Aug. 12, O’Brien Park will be filled with the sound of steel guitars and heartbreak when Mario and the Durango band take the stage. From Merle Haggard to Kenny Chesney to their own originals, this five piece band will get you moving!
Week three of the concert series, Aug. 19, features Beatle tribute band The Fables. Enjoy an afternoon playing Beatles Trivia and learning a little about the songs that made them famous. “Imagine” dancing and singing in the park to this great group!
On Aug. 26, Kantankerous delivers its own brand of classic bluegrass and good-timin’ mountain music with a repertoire stretching from Bill Monroe to Oh Brother, Where Art Thou. The group features close vocal harmonies and cookin’ instrumental solos that spotlight traditional fiddle tunes and hard driving banjo breakdowns, mixed with heartfelt ballads and glorious gospel arrangements.
For additional information on the Concerts in the Park series or other Parker Cultural Commission events, call 303.805.3263 or visit www.parkerpresents.org. O’Brien Park is located on the northeast corner of Parker Road and Mainstreet. Parker Cultural Commission events are sponsored in part by the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).

Project Delays Shift Opening of Chambers Road, Mainstreet and Meridian Village Boulevard to Fall 2007
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7/19/2007
Douglas County has announced that utility relocations and problems with the road sub-surface in the project area are causing delays in the opening of Meridian Village Boulevard from Lincoln to Mainstreet, Chambers Road from Lincoln to Mainstreet and Mainstreet from Newlin Gulch Boulevard to Meridian Village Boulevard to mid-September 2007.
Drivers previously used West Parker Road to get to Lincoln from Mainstreet, which has been open only to local traffic since Fall 2006, when the County began construction of Chambers Road and Mainstreet and the developers of Meridian Village, Shea Properties, began construction of a planned development for housing in that area. Shea Properties is paying for the construction of Meridian Village Boulevard from Lincoln to Mainstreet and Mainstreet from Meridian Village Boulevard to Chambers Road.
Drivers are encouraged to continue using Jordan Road to get from Mainstreet to Lincoln and vice versa until the Fall 2007 opening.
Upon completion this fall, drivers will have the option of two new north – south routes in that area – Meridian Village Boulevard and Chambers Road. West Parker Road will not reopen and will become a dead-end road in Lone Tree as a result of the two replacement roads.
“We apologize for the inconvenience that this delay will cause the traveling public,” said Douglas County Project Manager Sean P. Owens. “It’s always hard to determine what conflicts might arise in a construction project. We really appreciate the publics continued patience while we complete these projects.”

Denver Municipal Band will be entertaining Parker on August 5th 2007
Stop down to O'Brien Park on Sunday, Aug. 5 for the big jazz band sound
of the Denver Municipal Band. The DMB was founded in the late 1860s
by Alex Sutherland, bugler at the "Charge of The Light Brigade."
Surviving the ordeal, he settled in Denver where he was active in many of the
city's early musical activities.
The staple of DMB activity remains the "century plus" tradition of
summer concerts. Presented in accessible parks settings, these family
gatherings are entertained by the areas leading professional players,
including many principal players of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. In
addition to the full 40-piece concert band, the DMB family of ensembles
includes a 17-piece jazz band, jazz combo, brass band, plus woodwind and
brass quintets. These regularly present concerts in schools and community
centers.
The 17-piece Jazz Band will be appearing at a free show on Sunday, Aug.
5 as part of the Parker Cultural Commission's Concerts in the Park
series held at the O'Brien Park Gazebo from 1-3 p.m. Once again, free ice
cream will be provided by the Parker Sanitation and Water District.
Concerts in the Park are brought to you by the Parker Cultural
Commission and the SCFD. For more information visit www.parkerpresents.org or
contact Kelly Kuper at 303.805.3263.
