Kinder and Youth Basketball Registration Coming Soon; Volunteer Coaches

Parker Recreation is seeking volunteer coaches for upcoming Kinder and
Youth basketball leagues. If you would like to register as a volunteer
coach, please contact the Sports Office at 303.805.6300.

Girls Only basketball introduces girls to this sport with an emphasis
on fun and participation. New for this year will be both an eight-week
fall season and an eight-week winter season. Participants will work on
shooting, dribbling, passing and teamwork. Grade levels offered are
1-2, 3-4, and 5-6.

A Boys Only basketball program will be offered for both the fall and
winter leagues. Since the fall boys program is new this year for most
grade levels, a limited number of teams will be available in the fall as
compared to the winter league. Grade levels offered are 1-2, 3-4, and
5-6. A 7-8 grade league will be offered in the winter.

Both Boys' and Girls' leagues consist of one practice and one game each
week with an emphasis on fun and participation. Games will be held
Friday evenings or Saturdays.

The first Fall Kinder Basketball session registration opened online
Aug. 1. This four-week session will take place Friday evenings at the
Parker Fieldhouse, 18700 E. Plaza Drive. The season begins Friday, Sept.
14 and ends Friday, Sept. 28.

Parker Recreation's Kinder programs are designed to instill a love of
sport into our youngest players, four and five year olds. Leagues focus
on building skills, learning to work as a team and having fun! Kinder
programs meet once per week, combining practice with game scenarios.

This first four-week Kinder session will be followed by two eight week
Saturday sessions, held at various locations, running Oct. 20 to Dec. 1
and again from Jan. 6 to March 1. Registration opens online for the
Oct. 20 session on Sept. 11 and the Jan. 6 session opens online on Nov.
13.

Registration for both Kinder and Youth sports is FIRST-COME,
FIRST-SERVED through our online system. Register early beginning at 6 a.m. on
the date listed for each sport to have the best selection of teams. If
you prefer to register in person, Parker's Sports Division staff will be
available at the Fieldhouse and Recreation Center, 17301 Lincoln Ave.,
to assist you from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. on September 11
(Fall Basketball) and November 13 (Winter Basketball).
